So, you’re experiencing low libido? No need to worry! Low libido actually happens a lot more often than you might think. Not only for women, but for men as well.
The reason as to why women experience low libido does differ from the one men have, though.
If you are experiencing little to no sexual desire, there are a lot of things you can try that can get you in the mood.
But first, you need to know the cause of your low libido:

Causes

The causes for low libido can vary in accordance to lots of things. These causes can relate to your body, your age, the kind of food that you eat, and so much more.

There are a lot of things that factor into how sexual desire works among women. For women, sexual desires are affected by things like:

  • How intimate you are with your partner
  • How both your physical and emotional relationships is doing
  • How much stress do you experience throughout the day
  • How you’re taking care of your body
  • Your menstrual cycle

But, generally speaking, all those causes can be grouped into two separate groups, physical and mental causes. Both of these groups can affect your sex drive.

Let’s take a look at each group separately:

Physical Causes

When we’re talking about physical causes, we’re not just talking about how no sexual activity affects your low sex drive.

That aspect does have a say in the overall cause, for sure. But, it’s not as important as some other physical causes.

When we’re talking about physical causes, we mean illnesses, certain medications that you might be using, or your body. All of that can factor into your low libido.

Illnesses

If you’re suffering from an illness, then your sexual desire might also be affected negatively. You might lose the desire to have sex. Or, your illness might prevent you from having any sort of desire at all.

If that’s the case, you have to consult your doctor. Tell them what you are experiencing, and they will likely prescribe something that will help out with your libido.

This brings us to the next point:

Medication

You may be using some sort of medication that affects your libido negatively. If that’s the case, then you need to pay a visit to your doctor yet again.

Tell them the medication that they prescribed lowered your libido. Let them know how you’re feeling and ask if they can prescribe you something else.

If you think that your medication is harming your libido, don’t take any more of it. Certain medication can harm your sex drive to the point of no return, which is not something that you want.

Your Body

Are you comfortable in your skin? If you are not, then that is probably causing you to experience low libido.

If you want a change in your body, then try to make that change. Go to the gym, eat the food that you like, be it healthy or not healthy.

If you’re not comfortable in your skin, you will not be comfortable anywhere else. So, if you feel like you need to make a change, don’t stop to ask yourself whether or not you should do it. Do it!

Mental Causes

Your state of mind can have an incredibly negative effect on your libido. There are a ton of things that can affect your mental state.

These can be:

  • Mental health problems
  • Self-esteem
  • Previous sexual experiences

Mental Health Problems

Mental health problems can be anxiety, depression, or even stress. If you are experiencing any of these things, then chances are that you have a low libido.

A lot of things can cause anxiety, depression, or stress. What you need to do is schedule your day-to-day life and also ask for help when you need it.

It’s normal to see a therapist or talk to a friend or someone else about these problems. That’s how you can heal.

Self-Esteem

If you have low self-esteem, then you likely also have a low libido.

Low self-esteem can be pretty stressful. You might not like to talk to others in public, share your opinion, or feel proud of your accomplishments.

Things like that can take a real toll on your mental health and your libido. Again, the answer here is to ask for help.

A therapist is the best course of action. They will help you pinpoint the cause of your low self-esteem and how to take care of it.

Previous Sexual Experiences

If you have negative previous sexual experiences, then you might have a lot of libido.

Negative experiences usually end up with someone not wanting to try that against. And, when it comes to sex, you might not want to try it again, because you might think that it will hurt you.

That’s a normal reaction. But, you can’t go on having these thoughts forever. Just because you had one or a few bad experiences, doesn’t mean the rest are going to be the same.

You need to be brave and open yourself up. That’s how you will learn from those experiences and not get hurt again.
